Chan Kit Kheong
Kit Kheong graduated from the University of London in 2002 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and obtained his Master of Laws (Corporate and Commercial) from the same university in 2004. He has been admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and holds a Certificate in Legal Practice. He is a member of the Bar Council’s Corporate and Commercial Law Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee on Amendments to the Legal Profession Act 1976.
Kit Kheong has been in the legal industry for more than 10 years. He began his legal practice in the corporate firm Zaid Ibrahim & Co (the biggest law firm in Malaysia) under the Singapore and Labuan practice group. He subsequently moved to Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad as legal counsel before establishing Kit Kheong & Co.
Kit Kheong has extensive experience in advising companies, banks and financial institutions on a whole range of corporate, commercial and banking transactions, in particular, on takeovers and mergers, restructurings, foreign direct investments, syndications, aviation financing, convertible loan stock issues and derivatives. Kit Kheong also advises on media and technology law and was previously counsel in the largest media conglomerate in Malaysia.
Amongst others, he has acted as Malaysian counsel for a syndicate of international banks in the financing of a property development in Malaysia, acted for a German bank on its Malaysian merger pursuant to its global restructuring exercise, acted for foreign clients relating to aircraft financing transactions involving Malaysian airline operators, including export credit agency backed aircraft financing transactions, and acted for various Singapore-based domestic banks and offshore banks in their transactions with Malaysian borrowers and security providers.
